Other Resources for Men

Men as Peacemakers (MNMAN)
(Duluth, MN) Men As Peacemakers is building safe communities through programs that address and undermine the root causes of violence against women and children including sexism, male dominance, racism, and homophobia.

"What a Man Can Do" booklet
The Spectrum of Prevention booklet identifies multiple levels of intervention and helps people move beyond the perception that prevention is merely education. The Spectrum is a framework for a more comprehensive understanding of prevention that includes six levels for strategy development. These levels, delineated below, are complementary and when used together produce a synergy that results in greater effectiveness than would be possible by implementing any single activity or linear initiative.

The Don't Buy It Project
To address the rising demand for commercial sex, Men As Peacemakers has developed a public awareness campaign and educational resources called the Don’t Buy It Project. The Don’t Buy It Project includes a comprehensive toolkit of resources to help individuals, groups and communities to build understanding of the damage caused by commercial sexual exploitation and begin to shift attitudes and norms to decrease demand for commercial sex.

MN Clean Hotels Initative
The MN Clean Hotels Initiative is a collaboration between the Minnesota Department of Health’s Sexual Violence Prevention Program and the Minnesota Men’s Action Network: Alliance to Prevent Sexual and Domestic Violence. MNMAN is joining others in their historical efforts to create and nurture communities that are safe, just, and equitable. For the purposes of this initiative, MNMAN defines a "clean hotel" as a facility that does not offer in-room adult pay-per-view pornography.

The MENding Project
MNMAN has developed a method of coordinating broad, community-based pledges for pro bono goods and services from traditionally male-run or male oriented businesses that can help battered women and children and sexual assault survivors mend the harm that men have done. The MENding Project acknowledges men’s unique opportunity to end men’s violence against women and our collective responsibility to do so. The MENding Project is one answer to the question many men have asked themselves: “What can I do to help?”

Voice Mail Magazine
Accounts of men learning about their inner lives, men overcoming violence and men who have survived abuse are published alongside stories championing women’s rights and girls’ and women’s safety. Reviews of edgy books and films on masculinities and the latest in men’s health, are augmented by in-depth features: from men speaking honestly about violence in sports to pornography’s manipulation of men; from manhood in a time of war to how women and men can work together for gender justice. Voice Male shines a bright light on a male positive, pro-feminist, gay-affirmative, anti-racist future for men, women, families and communities.

Men Can Stop Rape
Men Can Stop Rape seeks to mobilize men to use their strength for creating cultures free from violence, especially men’s violence against women. In 1997, the founders of Men Can Stop Rape pioneered a different way of addressing the epidemic of violence against women.

The Good Men Project
We explore the world of men and manhood in a way that no media company ever has, tackling the issues and questions that are most relevant to men’s lives. We write about fatherhood, family, sex, ethics, war, gender, politics, sports, pornography, and aging. We shy away from nothing. Our content reflects the multidimensionality of men — we are alternatively funny and serious, provocative and thoughtful, earnest and light-hearted.
