Men's Engagement Initiative

The goals of the men’s engagement initiative is to create and implement programs, trainings, and outreach to the University of Minnesota community focused on engaging men and male-identified individuals as well as all genders, around topics of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, bystander behavior, masculinity, and gender equity. Additional topics to be addressed in these efforts include social justice, intersectional identities, sexual orientation, gender-based violence, and influencing social norms.

The Aurora Center’s Men’s Engagement Initiative focuses on three areas:

  1. Provide awareness and services to male-identified victim/survivors
  2. Educate and encourage bystander intervention and men as allies
  3. Educate and encourage peer-to-peer accountability by examining masculinity issues, communication, social norms, and relationships

Masculine Allies Respecting Consent and Healthy Relationships Month (MARCH)

During the month of March, in supplement with Women’s History Month, we celebrate Masc. Allies Respecting Consent and Healthy Relationships Month (MARCH). During MARCH, we highlight the essential role of masculine allies in sexual violence prevention. Masculine allies challenge harmful gender norms, increase support for male survivors, and contribute to a culture of inclusion and safety for all.
