Katie Eichele, Director, M.S.

Katie Eichele is responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Aurora Center for Advocacy & Education, development of policy and protocols relating to sexual assault. relationship violence and stalking, partnering with faculty, staff and students in the development of outreach and educational initiatives, development of innovative programs to enhance the safety and well-being of students, and the overall coordination of services with other campus and community organizations.

Additionally, she provides direct services to clients, addresses parent concerns, provides consultations for the greater university campus and surrounding community, supervises the TAC staff, and oversees Aurora's fiscal accountability.

Katie has worked at the University of Minnesota, TC since 2004. Her background/experience stems from university student conduct, student development, social justice, and crisis management.

Gavin Grivna, Assistant Director, M.A.

Gavin Grivna is responsible for The Aurora Center for Advocacy & Education’s program development, service evaluation and assessment, conducting professional workshops around violence prevention and intervention, strategizing campus awareness and response, training volunteers and student staff, statistical data collecting and reporting, marketing communications and serving as principal investigator on grant funding proposals and efforts.

Gavin has worked full-time at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities since 2009. His previous work experiences include student support and advising, training, facilitation and supervision, student conduct, and social justice education.

Becky Redetzke Field, Legal Advocacy Coordinator

Becky is responsible for co-coordinating the legal advocacy services provided by The Aurora Center. This includes legal advocacy, academic advocacy, and systems advocacy as well as meeting one to one with clients and responding to phone calls on the 24 hour helpline.

If you have a question about the services we provide to survivors, legal questions, or to schedule an appointment to meet with an advocate, contact Becky. Jerie Smith, Volunteer Coordinator, M.A. equivalent

Jerie is responsible for overseeing volunteer involvement and the general care and nurture through on-going training and supervision of volunteer advocates. She is responsible for ensuring that advocates have the skills necessary to do direct work with clients.

She is also the staff coordinator for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) events and provides leadership to the student SAAM and DVAM Coordinators.

TBD, Prevention Program Coordinator

The Prevention Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating presentations and workshops provided by The Aurora Center and Boynton Health Service. This includes bystander intervention training, consent workshops, and general issues surrounding sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking prevention. This position oversees the Violence Prevention Education Volunteers, students who facilitate peer education. They also are the staff coordinators for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) events and provides leadership to the student SAAM and DVAM Coordinators.

Malik Mitchell, Men's Engagement Coordinator

Malik is responsible for overseeing and coordinating men’s engagement initiatives, including providing awareness and services to male-identified survivors, and encouraging peer-to-peer accountability, bystander intervention, and men as allies through educational initiatives. Malik also assists with the Violence Prevention Education program. Hhe is also one of the staff coordinators for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) events and provides leadership to the student SAAM and DVAM Coordinators.
